Design of the 2nd National Youth Strategy 2030
The development of the first National Strategy for Youth in 2017 was a major challenge for the Youth Board of Cyprus, as it was the first specific policy document for young people in Cyprus. It was the result of a very important task undertaken and carried out by the Youth Board of Cyprus, through a multi-level consultation and cooperation with all stakeholders, governmental and non-governmental – dealing with youth issues, youth organisations and, first and foremost, young people themselves. The first Strategy, with eight fields of action and a six-year plan, represented the state’s practical interest in youth and highlighted the need to empower young people and invest in them for a better future.
With the completion of the 1st National Youth Strategy, ONEK is again taking a leading role in the design of the Second National Strategy, with a horizon of 2030. A strategy whose primary objective is to inspire hope, confidence and optimism in the younger generation.
The new Youth Strategy will be the vision, the plan and the commitment of the state to a series of actions and activities aimed at promoting the promotion and well-being of youth, recognizing that the young generation is the most vibrant and dynamic cell of our society, the present and the future of our country.
In line with the basic principle of the Youth Board, that everything that concerns young people should be co-decided with them, the Youth Board intends to formulate the Strategy with the participation of young people themselves, making them key partners of the state in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of policies that concern them.
The young people, representatives of youth organisations, social partners and policy makers will be his companions in this important effort to develop the second National Strategy, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The process includes a variety of participatory actions, such as local consultations, involving young people and other stakeholders, joint action with government agencies and youth representatives, open online consultations and the holding of the 5th National Youth Conference.
The Youth Board of Cyprus invites all to participate and contribute to this process for a better present and future for youth.
The adoption of this new Youth Strategy 2030 is a multi-dimensional and multi-faceted challenge for the Cyprus Youth Board and the culmination of the actions of the National Year of Youth 2024.
