Surveys are a vital tool of youth policy making, since youth policies must be based on the real needs and views of young people.
In the context of exercising its advisory role to the State on youth policy issues, the YBC conducts surveys on various youth related issues that affect young people. It also supports surveys on youth related issues conducted by researchers, academic institutions and other bodies and organisations.
The conduct of surveys and comprehensive studies leads to scientific conclusions on the real needs of young people, which lead to the planning of relevant actions and the submission of proposals by the YBC to the competent bodies.
Within 2020, the Youth Board proceeded with the establishment of a large-scale survey for youth, called “Youth-Barometer”. The aim is to capture the situation of young people in Cyprus and explore their needs and perceptions on various topics, such as education, health, employment and active participation.
As the National Agency of the EU Programmes “Erasmus+ Youth” and “European Solidarity Corps”, the Youth Board participates in the Research Network RAY, which conducts research on the impact of the participation of young people and youth workers in the EU Programmes and aims at facilitating dialogue between research, policy and practice in the youth field.
